Very cool writeup of the Dublin finances. Have you considered putting up a link for people that want to pledge support for the band to defray some of those expenses and make it even more worthwhile? I'm sure some of us would gladly pay a higher ticket price, though I understand why you would want to keep those lower. Maybe something like a Patreon?
I'm sure some generous souls would help in such a way, and that's very good of them. But as soon as we were to accept donations or do something like a Patreon we'd become beholden to the fanbase, and that's something I'd never be comfortable with.
the numbers section is insanely interesting! as an irish fan, i think i speak for all of us saying that i happily would've paid double or triple the ticket price if it was what made the show possible, but you guys stick to your guns on pricing, and that's really respectable.
Always appreciate an Ohio date on tours. We've been spoiled since the tour with Titus Andronicus in 2009(?). This will cap off a wild month of shows (Nick Cave, Initiate, Cloakroom).
Maybe most exciting for LC, the Columbus venue is right down the road from a massive Budweiser bottling plant. Like, the road the venue is on dead-ends into a gigantic BUDWEISER neon sign. A good opportunity to cash in?
Thanks for sharing numbers, love that stuff! You played 2 shows in 1 night at the Esplanade Singapore 13 years ago and said you'll probably never be back again for the reasons outlined here. Glad I made it, was a good time!
The Dublin bit was a super interesting read! I love how you guys never compromise on your values, especially in todayβs world where you rarely come across people like that. Canβt wait to see you all in Brooklyn!
π no US shipping on the posters; is this finally my turn to be the indignant fan?? Lawl never, but if UK/Ireland folks don't somehow snap those up...
See you all in Columbusβ¦again! So happy youβre coming to the US. I was lucky enough to be on vacation in London last year and saw you all play at Bristol and hear the new songs live. Bristol was such a beautiful town and Iβm so happy the stars aligned to be there when you all were playing. Please please please play Hung Empty in Columbus now that itβs finally made its live debut!!
Just read the cost stuff - really interesting I didnβt realise the 18+ difference - you are all massively inspiring and the openness in which you share this is so important - thank you π LC!4LYF
Thank you so much for taking the time to share the financials of your Dublin show. Itβs fascinating to read and really puts into perspective the amount of logistics, effort and financial risk that must be taken in order for me, as a fan, to get to see a band I love perform for an hour or two. Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago for the millionth time in May β thanks for making the trek!
Thank you for putting together the numbers write-up! And thank you for continuing to tour -- every show is such a joy and I'm grateful for every one I've gotten to attend. See you in Brooklyn!
Liked reading about the expenses you donβt think about from the Dublin gig. I think I ended up paying the same by making the Troxy gigs the week after into a long London Valentineβs tripβ getting Matt hooked on zyns was worth it though x

See you in BK! G
That's true, slippery slope I suppose.
As a logistics fanatic myself, the numbers were an absolute joy to read, cheers!
Tragic that the left over pins can't ship to the states. :') In better news, I'll be driving 14 hours for my first LC show in Chicago!

I loved the financial breakdown! It would be great if more bands shared stuff like this.
As a follow-up, it would be nice to see a similar article but for a festival show. Is it more more financially worthwhile?
See you in Porto in June :)
