hi gareth! just wanted to start off by saying i love the newsletter! awesome thing to wake up to in the morning today :)
anyway this isnt quite a question but i just wanted, while i have the opportunity here, to thank you and the rest of LC! for making your music. that sounds cheesy but i mean it! im a newer fan, i discovered romance is boring at a friend’s recommendation sometime near the end of 2021, and its no understatement to say that LC! has quickly become one of my favorite bands of all time. any of those things you use to track your top songs always spit out like 15 LC songs and 5 of anything else and thats being generous, lol.
i’ve been going through a LOT this past year. a lot of really messed up stuff and a lot of struggling to learn how to be my own person- im only 20, and i dont really have any outside help for much of anything. but through it all, every single time, it feels like the music of LC gets me in a way that absolutely nothing else ever has. it helps me process the bullshit of living on this planet and gives me an outlet and gives me something to scream to and something to feel less alone. and on top of that your songs just sound amazing. LC! has been a major inspiration in my own writing projects, and on top of that ive been using some songs to help practice my vocal training since starting testosterone in october.
im never sure how to end these kinds of messages, but like, i dont think i could possibly describe how much your guys’s music has genuinely changed my life. it means everything to me. thank you guys so much for all of it!! good luck with the newsletter and any new developments you all do or dont decide for the band. love you guys <3!!!!
im so glad this exists now, its so much easier to have all the updates in one place that doesnt have instagram hiding posts from me. having all this stuff in the merch store is so exciting, i cant choose 💔
just want to add that your open support of the trans community is such a breath of fresh air and makes me feel so safe as a member of your community, so thank you!!
Hello! Id like to ask about goodnight for a fistfight being pulled from apple music, is there any reason for that? Its my favorite album so its kind of sad not being able to listen to it anymore :(
i think its likely a licensing issue or some wacky copyright stuff on spotifys end affecting your region. it happens all the time on spotify unfortunately but usually it goes back up pretty soon anyway.
hiyaa! hope yr all well! im asking about your music process: simply, what is it? does one person have an idea and you all write around it, do you find sound or lyrics first, who writes most of the lyrics?? what's the method behind the madness??
Hello Gareth! I was wondering if heart swells records would ever function as a larger, more expansive "label", rather than just being a home for LC and it's abundance of various emo clothing.
I'm wondering just because LC have always had a unique sound, no matter when in their career, so there must be at least someone involved with an ear for the original.
Going fully indie is the thing right now ik, but I feel the bands biting self awareness and borderline pavement-esque layed back nature to music would attract vast swathes of weeping dipshits writing sleeper hits of their own.
so happy the newsletter is back! this is perhaps a heavier question than what you're looking for, but I was at the last stop on your 2017 US tour and you said something then about music being the thing you did on the side, and having to go back to work the following monday. I'm currently trying to balance working a boring job that pays the bills with doing creative stuff that makes me happy, so I'm wondering if you have any thoughts/advice on making that work bc it's making me kind of crazy rn
Long time listener, first time caller. Just wanted to say LC! has been on my Mount Rushmore of fav bands since 2006, when you were sticking fingers into sockets. Love your music and basically everything about the band; the vibes just resonate with the spirit. Shaking Neil's hand at a merch table in Columbus back in 2018 was a Top 5 moment for me.
You guys got one more album in ya!? It could even be called "Death to Los Campesinos!". Love you guys (and Gal) thanks for all the amazing music. You are beautiful, we are doomed.
hey gareth!! im a huge fan of this band and i love this newsletter so much you have no idea! one question i do have is is there any plans on releasing a Whole Damn Body cd? its my favorite album and ive been collecting all the cds so i was wondering if there were any plans for it? im such a huge fan of you all and i love your music, thank you!!
Knowing I may never see you again in Australia since seeing you at least a decade ago at harvest festival and pushing my shy girlfriend to basically meet and greet Gareth, I selfishly want a continual stream of new recorded content.
New album?
New live recordings?
New acoustic versions?
Trivia about the band wise, I’d be interested to read what work and life is like for members past and current.
I enjoyed the short book about you guys a while back, I saw it amongst some other books the other day for the first time in what feels already like years.
