Lots of your favourite designs available, plus we just added/restocked a couple of extra bits, INCLUDING a return of the fabled ‘romance is boring’ mug. Frequently you guys get in touch to lament that you smashed yours, or an ex-partner had stolen it. Finally you get to replace it!
Sparky Deathcap Latest
The close to 15 year wait for Rob’s Tear Jerky EP vinyl release is nearly over, and yet still the days only crawl by. Sparky Deathcap’s mini-masterpiece lands on streaming worldwide and in UK record shops on December 1st. You’ve still chance to pre-order it over at Rob’s webstore and, between me and you, if you do it’ll be through your letterbox before that 01/12 release date.
Rob recorded a couple of serene sessions in Upstate New York. You can see his renditions of September and Winter City Ghosts over on YouTube.
Sparky Deathcap will be making live in-store appearances on the EP’s release weekend. Rob will be performing a solo set, plus signing copies of the record and generally hanging out. You can see Rob, and maybe some of his LC! entourage, at the following locations.
Luca: “What's the backstory behind the photoshoot where you are all holding falcons?”
Gareth says…
No back story, really! That was an era where record labels would spend a ton of money on photoshoots, transporting us to different different parts of the country, spending money on props and locations. These shots were taken for the ‘WAB,WAD’ release, so I think we were probably looking for something a bit more brooding after the playful press images we’d had for ‘HON,Y…’. The shoot was by a great photographer named Jon Bergman, who we worked with on the next two records’ promo shots too. Here’s a lesser seen photo from that shoot!
Another photo from the LC! archives. This one from the legendary 2008 ‘Shred Yr Face’ tour, which took place in the build up to the release of ‘WAB,WAD’. Pictured are our tourmates, No Age and Times New Viking. Undoubtedly one of the strongest bills we’ve ever been on. All 12 band members, plus assorted crew, travelled on the same double decker tour bus. Carnage, as you can imagine, and a real ‘coming of age’ tour for us. Playing alongside two incredible and very COOL bands made us play a lot harder and more aggressively to ensure we didn’t feel like wimps coming on after them. Great mems.
Big recommendation for the new Empty Country album. Emotional and expansive rock music, with the kind of lyrical minutiae that I love and envy.
A homie on the LC! subreddit has turned some of our melodies into 3310 style ringtones. Cool!
NO BLUES vinyl still available. UK / USA NO BLUES remaster streaming now.
Speak soon, see ya in the comments!
I finally can do it and say it, after more than 13 years, flying all the way from Mexico to Toronto to see my favorite band perform live!!! I'm so happy and grateful.
I know that it’s not a coincidence, and I know that you guys are actively choosing to come to Brooklyn, but it blows my mind everytime you guys are in Brooklyn. Like last time you guys performed on literally the same block where my parents worked, and now you’re performing in greenpoint, on driggs avenue!!, and in a Polish venue no less!! Absolutely mind blowing and incredible! I love you guys so much!
