The Mortal Joy Tour pre-sale kicks off TODAY (Thursday 23rd May) at 10:00am for you, our loyal newsletter subscribers.
I’ll be honest we’re really excited for these shows. It’s our first time playing in any of these cities since 2017, and we’ve not been to Bristol since 2015 (despite 4 of us living on the city’s bus route now!). We’re playing much bigger venues than we have ever before in the UK, and that’s an amazing thing for us to be able to say, 18 years into our existence as a band.
Thank you to everyone who bought tickets in yesterday’s All Hell pre-sale. Remarkably, over 1,500 tickets were sold in that 2 hour period, that’s 25% of the total tour tickets. If you miss out in today’s pre-sale (though you shouldn’t, there are plenty to go around) then general sale is open from 10am on Friday 24 May.
Full info about ticket prices, booking fees, age restrictions etc can be found over here at our website, but a couple of bits I wanted to draw attention to…
All venues are accessible but have limited reserved seating/standing for those who require it. If you require a reserved accessible spot, or have other accessibility needs, we would urge you to contact the venue immediately after purchasing your ticket to discuss your requirements. You can find contact details and additional accessibility information for each venue at our website.
We know that there will be a lot of people travelling from out of town for these gigs, so we’ve already confirmed show-end times. Where possible these have been selected to allow train travel home to major neighbouring towns/cities. End time listed below, with selected train-destinations in brackets alongside. More info here.
Sheffield - 10:30pm (Leeds, Barnsley, Doncaster, Wakefield)
Glasgow - 10:30pm (Edinburgh, Stirling, Greenock, Ayr, Hamilton, Paisley, Dumbarton)
Manchester - 10:15pm (Liverpool, Warrington, Preston, Hebden Bridge, Huddersfield, Halifax, Bolton)
Bristol - 10:00pm (Bath, Cardiff, Newport)
Brighton - 10:00pm (London)
Birmingham - 9:45pm (Nottingham, Coventry, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Northampton)
‘A Psychic Wound’ Tabs
Tom: "It’s tough remembering where ideas for songs came from, especially as the earliest version of this dates back to a voicememo from 2019. But I have a recollection of falling back in love with guitars, or at least not being embarrassed that we were primarily a guitar band anymore. I’d found myself listening to a lot of Times New Viking, and the wave of diy bedroom pop that was around at the time was inspiring to me. I was also just craving a simplicity in our songs, the demos I’d made with constant left turns or wilful surprises felt needlessly complex and showy, and just left me weary and bored.
So i think this was an attempt to get back to that simplicity and the raw fundamentals of playing music as a band. Other than the pre-chorus, it’s the same chords throughout, just switching up the dynamics between as quiet as we can go and as loud. And while i try not to think about how songs will end up being played live, I couldn’t help but imagine people bouncing along to the half time chorus of this as the vocal jumps an octave and the full band comes in!”
‘The Coin-Op Guillotine’ T-Shirt
Very pleased with this shirt design for the All Hell pre-order. The Coin-Op Guillotine is the album’s opening track and, well, the shirt illustration (by Rob ofc) should give you an idea of what it’s talking about. This one’s intended to be pre-order only, so make sure to pick it up before the album release if you’re interested (and obviously pair it with the album on a format of your choosing!).
Have you checked out the Gigography on our new website yet?
A list of every gig we've ever played, plus you can share your photos and memories to the archive! Pics from gigs 070, 104, 206 and 418 here...
We’d really love for you to contribute! The older the gig, and the grainier the photo the better!
Mass Projection #7
Matt - “Oftentimes after a show we'll drive partway to the next city to break up the journey a little. It's a weird liminal time, where the adrenaline from the gig hasn't entirely worn off yet and everyone's still buzzing, but the tiredness is starting to set in.
Music is a constant companion for me on these night drives, usually erring on the side of more moody, introspective tracks (unless I've had an inadvisable number of beers at the show, in which case I'll be reaching straight for the speed garage and organ house belters). This is a collection of some past favourites from after-hours van listening, from murky drone to cavernous dub, smudged R&B and cosmic dance music wormholes”.
Part 1 of this playlist, jams for day-drives, can be found at the Mass Projection archive page.
New Ceres!
Tom’s been busy! Not only has he produced All Hell, but he’s also been at the desk for the new single from our friends in Melbourne band Ceres. Listen to Want/Need right now, featuring the Northern Voices Choir. If you’re not familiar, Tom produced their previous, fantastic album We Are A Team too.
This is not an endorsement, as even my ego can’t bring itself to listen to our music being discussed at length, but a couple of people seem to have put a lot of effort into making a Los Camp! fan-podcast, so it would feel ungrateful not to at least draw it to your attention.
Very aware that the Soccer European Championships are taking place while we’re on tour in the US and Canada. We’ll be in Boston, Toronto and Portland for England match days. If you’ve any tips on great bars for us to watch the games, please let us know in the comments! Last tickets here!
Two of our faves are playing UK shows this week, and I wanted to draw attention. Nathy SG (of Martha) begins a tour of some of England’s best DIY venues this evening, in Sheffield. I’ve yet to see his band live, so please go on my behalf if they’re local to you. And we’ve raved about claire rousay to you before (her album is a shoo-in for our Top 5 of the year): her Euro/UK run has just kicked off, with UK shows beginning in Bristol on Tuesday.
Soon we’ll have confirmation on Australian record stores that will be stocking All Hell. We’ll share those on Twitter when we have them, so our Aussie fans can save a bit of $ on shipping.
A certain cross-section of our fanbase will like this…it was great fun to see our old pals Johnny Foreigner play at the Deadpunk Alldayer in Bristol the other weekend. New album from JoFo this year too, so keep your eyes peeled.
I’ll be real for a moment…All Hell’s only been available to pre-order for a week, but we’ve already sold more than double the number of copies than we sold of Sick Scenes in its whole pre-order campaign. For us to do that with no record label, no management, no publicist and no compromise feels like a really notable achievement, and we are incredibly grateful for your support in doing this. Feels like we could be on the brink of something special…
Where have you picked up tickets for then?

See you in the comments. LC! x
