NO BLUES is 10 🌸 Stream the Remaster Now
PLUS Tear Jerky EP is nigh, Sold Out Shows and a pre-announcement for North America...
NO BLUES turned 10 years old yesterday, and we’re marking that milestone by adding the remastered version of the album to streaming platforms, ahead of its vinyl release in December. STREAM IT NOW.
I’m not sure what sets it apart for me, but it’s definitely my favourite of our albums (so far) and it’s nice to be able to shine a bit of a light on it with this remaster. Maybe some of you will be hearing the album for the first time, while others of you can listen with fresh ears. However you’re coming to the record, we hope you enjoy it and continue to do so.
NO BLUES vinyl is still available to pre-order: UK / North America Those shirts are only available as part of this pre-order, so grab yours soon if you’re interested.
Against my better judgement, Banquet Records have persuaded me to sign copies, including a PERSONALISED MESSAGE to you. Transparent green version there, and at your local record store.
If you’re a Bandcamp person, you can now grab it there, on vinyl or download. This is the same pink vinyl version as is available on our UK store.
Later this week we’ll share another newsletter, featuring a new interview with Tom and me, discussing some of our memories of recording the album back in Summer 2012, plus never before seen photos from our time in the studio.
Tear Jerky EP is Coming
Rob’s Tear Jerky EP is a forthcoming release on our very own record label, Heart Swells. It follows the re-issues of NB and HS and becomes our fledgling label’s first non-LC! release.
If you’re not familiar with what’s happened with Rob’s Sparky Deathcap project in 2023 then I’d fully recommend you get up to speed by reading about the remarkable turn of events in this Twitter thread. The Tear Jerky EP was originally rush-released for a home-made CD release by Rob in 2009, when he joined LC! and did double duty on his first tour, both playing in our band, and opening the shows with his solo work (with LC! playing as his backing band!). It’s a beautiful thing that nearly 15 years later our label, Heart Swells, is giving the music its first vinyl release. And speaking of beautiful things, the physical product is a sight to behold, showing the full extent of Rob’s wonderful talents and eye for detail. We’re so pleased for and proud of him, and hope you’ll share those sentiments and give his stuff a listen if you’ve not already.
Pre-order Tear Jerky now, ahead of its release on streaming and in stores on December 1st.
Listen to and watch the video for new Sparky single Winter City Ghosts.
Keep your eyes peeled for news of some Sparky Deathcap live appearances very soon.
Mass Projection #5
The 5th instalment of Matt’s ‘Mass Projection’ mixes highlights his love of Dubstep. If you’re new to the genre, this acts as a perfect intro to the good stuff.
We’ve compiled all Matt’s mixes so far on its own section of the substack, so click over there and get listening to the handful of playlists so far. There’s a real variety of stuff, from emo ambient to deep club, and slow jams to glistening breaks. Guaranteed you’ll find something new for you to love.
Sold Out Live Shows
We were blown away by the reaction to our recently announced live shows, and especially the speed with which they sold out. To those of you who missed out on tickets, we’re sorry, but there will be some additional, regional UK touring in 2024, so we hope you’ll still want to see us by then.
We’ve added brilliant opening acts to these shows in the form of Martha (London) and Fortitude Valley (Leeds). The prospect of playing to 3,000 people at the Troxy is beyond exciting to us. We’re working hard to ensure it’s the definitive Los Camp! gig, and one that we’ll all remember.
Notes
We often hear from people wanting to collect our back catalogue on vinyl. Turns out Banquet Records have a stack of Hello Sadness, if that’s one you wanted to add to your collection.
Our friends Muriel recently released their wonderful self-titled debut album. It’s a beautiful album of soft and intricate chamber-pop, and features production by Tom. Well worth a listen here.
More recommendations: ME REX’s new full length is here. I’m certain there’s a lot for LC! fans to enjoy in that record. They’re on tour very soon (check your local listings), and I’m looking forward to the Bristol gig! A more left-field shout: Northwoods Sleep Baseball from one of my favourite UK record labels, Worried Songs, is three hours of fake minor league baseball commentary intended to aid sleep, or act as a soothing background hum while you work.
I’ve added a page to the Substack where you can ask what you’ve always wanted to know about Los Camp!. Be it touring, our experiences of the industry, the equipment we use, our influences, or anything else of interest, give us your questions at the button below and we’ll answer them in depth in future letters.
DOOMED sweatshirts and Hello Sadness long sleeves are currently in stock. From size XS up to 5XL. They’ll not be restocked again before Christmas.
Okay okay, next month we’ll announce 2024 North America tour dates 😅
Thanks again for being here! We’ll see you in the comments.
I've said this before, but please come to Atlanta!
Just here to say I got No Blues tattooed on me because the shift from Hello Sadness to No Blues aligned perfectly with a personal shift in my life and growth through those years. To be 10 years on now from reaching my own No Blues era… I’m so happy to be here with you all, I am LC!4LYF and cannot wait to see you in North America next year. Thank you for everything you have given to me over the years… No words can ever explain or repay my gratitude but your music means everything to me, and I am a better person for having experienced it. Happy 10 years to No Blues!!!! ☺️🥳
