Mass Projection #6
American folk laced with radio static and field recordings, piano jazz, and some mesmeric post-whatever guitar music jams
Matt - “Much like Gareth’s documented love of spreadsheets, I’m a big list-maker, particularly when it comes to music.
My memory is slowly getting worse in my old age, and with the near-infinite amount of music out there to listen to online these days, I often find myself suffering from decision paralysis when it comes to what to listen to next in any given moment. So, in my excitement for upcoming tours, I often prep by going through my record collection and reminding myself of music I like to listen to on the road – even going so far as to divide up playlists for day drives and night drives (in one particularly obsessive phase in 2021 for our US tour, I actually split down lists by which city in the US we were going to be in, including separate playlists for each day in New York…!).
This is a collection of some of those tracks that I like to listen to on tour (and indeed can factually verify that I HAVE listened to on tour in the past, based on the lists still in my phone...). True to form, I've split it up into lists for day drives and night drives, with part #1 this week covering off day - expansive American folk laced with radio static and field recordings, piano jazz, and some mesmeric post-whatever guitar music jams. Equally good for sitting in a cafe trying to wake up on a hangover after a particularly big show the night before, or staring out the window at nature on long drives”.
