đ´ All Hell - 5 New Versions and a Cover Available Now!
Strings, sax and intimate details to the front, plus a cover of a favourite song.
Today we release a special extended digital version, of All Hell, featuring 5 re-worked versions of songs from the album, plus a cover of the song âWaitâ by the Secret Stars, made famous by Death Cab For Cutie.
These new versions, produced once again by Tom and recorded just last month, showcase tracks from the album in a more delicate, stripped back way.
Tom says: âI know itâs self indulgent, but I love the strings on this record, and I love the sax, and I love all the intimate details that can get lost in a fuller arrangement, and stripping the songs back to these skeletal versions allows all those elements and great musicians to come to the front. It wasnât part of the plan, but it became clear that the original vocal performances no longer made sense when presented this way, nor the guitars, so we quickly re-recorded these in a day in Cardiff, and now I love them too.â
The bonus edition of the album is available now and costs just ÂŁ5/$6 to download.
The tracklist comes as followsâŚ
A Psychic Wound (A Cosmic Cheque version)
Long Throes (Punks on the Playlist version)
To Hell in a Handjob (Shucked)
Moonstruck (29 September 2023)
The Coin-Op Guillotine (Sharpen the Blade)
Wait [the Secret Stars cover]
This release will not be available on streaming platforms for the time being, and will only be able to purchase from Monday 22 July until Thursday 25 July, at which point it will be removed from online.
Full disclosure, the timing of this is in the hope of benefitting our UK chart placing this coming Friday. As Iâve referenced before, All Hell could possibly be our first ever UK Top 40 Album, which, 18 years into being a band, with an album that we have self-funded and self-released, would feel like a nice achievement. So the logic here is that by releasing this âDeluxeâ version now, those of you who have already purchased the album on a physical format, might buy a digital copy too, in order to receive the 6 new recordings. If youâve already purchased the album via our webstore or bandcamp you should have received a 20% discount code, so you can get the release for ÂŁ4 rather than ÂŁ5 (or US equivalent). If youâve not received said code, please forward your proof of purchase to web@loscampesinos.com and weâll hook it up.
I appreciate it mightnât seem particularly Los Camp! to seek validation from the Official Charts Company, but that is not our motivation. Our motivation is that such a success would really stick it to our Haters and Enemies. And you canât really get much more LC! than that, right?
As always, we really appreciate your support.
The response to All Hell has been way more than we ever dared to dream. We were confident in how good it is, but the period of time waiting for the album to release can leave you rattling around your own head a lot, so the relief of handing the album over to you all, and you giving us so much love back, wellâŚitâs felt really good.
And the reviews have been the same!
âUnquestionably the ultimate Los Campesinos! album" 8.5, Best New Music - Pitchfork
âA triumphâ 4½ /5 - DIY
âAll Hell is the sound of a band whoâve spent nearly 20 years cultivating their own distinct identity, and itâs that genuine sense of themselves thatâs made Los Campesinos! so enduringâ Album Of The Week - Stereogum
âdazzling wordplay, gorgeous imagery and pristine productionâ 5/5 - The Skinny
âtheir finest album yetâ 9/10 - Clash
âAll Hell is the sound of a band unified and liberatedâ - The Line Of Best Fit
Tom and Gareth Interviewed on the Alt
The Alt is one of our favourite music websites, covering the emo-adjacent music we love with a depth of knowledge and passion that nowhere else really does.
When we were in Portland last month, Tom and I sat down with Grace Roso for a really enjoyable chat. Talk of Carly Rae Jepsen, surviving Indie Sleaze and the differences between UK and US audiences.
Signed Copies of All Hell
While we were at Banquet Records on Saturday we took the opportunity to sign all their remaining All Hell stock. If you fancy a copy with the signatures of all 7 of us on it, nowâs your chance!
They also have a small quantity of the Dinked version (fully signed), featuring the alternative artwork, riso print, lyric booklet and all those extras.
Speaking of BanquetâŚ
Thanks to those of you that came out to Kingston on Saturday night to celebrate the release of All Hell. We played an hour-long festival-style set of songs old and new, including live debuts for I. Spit⌠and Adult Acne Stigmata.
We really enjoyed the gig, and then had a very enjoyable drive to our Travelodge in Reading, blasting the Mark, Tom and Travis Show in full.
Thanks also to Spillers Records and Specialist Subject for hosting our instores yesterday, in Cardiff and Bristol respectively. It was really nice to play some stripped back versions of our songs, and especially to get to say âhelloâ to so many of you while signing.
